Who is she?

Who is She? is a live audiovisual performance developed as an autobiographical and cathartic investigation into the unstable construction of identity.

Combining live animation, collage, sound, and performative image manipulation, the work assembles a shifting landscape of female figures, symbolic gestures, emotional fragments, and projected memories. Through real-time transformation, identities continuously dissolve and recompose, oscillating between intimacy, fiction, stereotype, and self-projection.

Rather than constructing a stable self-portrait, the performance approaches identity as something fragmented, emotionally charged, and permanently in transition.

The work transforms live animation into a performative process of emotional exposure and reconstruction, marking a decisive moment in the artist’s movement from audiovisual experimentation towards embodied and relational performative practices.

Process

The project emerged through experiments in live animation, collage, audiovisual improvisation, and performative narration.

Using found imagery, archival references, internet culture, personal memories, and representations of femininity drawn from popular media, the artists developed a performative system in which images could be manipulated and transformed live during the performance.

Through layering, interruption, projection, and recomposition, identity appears as something unstable and emotionally constructed, oscillating between intimacy, fiction, stereotype, and self-projection.

Conceived as an autobiographical and cathartic work, the performance introduced emotional exposure, temporality, and improvisation into practices previously rooted in audiovisual editing and post-production.

Rather than approaching animation as a fixed cinematic form, the project transformed it into a live and embodied process unfolding in direct relation to sound, rhythm, and audience presence.

Context

The project was was developed during an artistic residency at Nau Estruch under the curation of Oscar Abril Ascaso, in collaboration with the artist Carme Viñas.

The piece was presented at the “react-feminism” at Fundació Tàpies, as well as at the NauEstruch theatre in Sabadell.

As one of the final works within the artist’s live animation period, Who is She? occupies a transitional position between audiovisual collage practices and later voice-based, autobiographical, and relational methodologies.
